The genesis of Silver Impact, Inc. was C.A.R.E., a self-help support and advocacy group started in 1991, which addressed the gaps between the mental health and aging services systems in Broward County. Silver Impact was incorporated as a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) not-forprofit corporation in 1993 and has operated Silver Impact Center since 1997. .Silver Impact Center is a Drop-In Center which focuses solely on the needs of older adults who suffer from severe, persistent mental illness.
